This year seventh grader Emma Lee earned the highest score in the state on the Arizona Association of Teachers of Mathematics annual state-wide algebra competition.Įmma shares Summit’s renown with an impressive contingent of students from Tempe/West Chandler neighborhoods, a number that surpassed the 14 percent mark during the school year that just ended, according to school officials.Įmma’s Summit School math classmates also excelled. Algebra may be a high-school level class, but middle school students at Summit School of Ahwatukee seem to thrive in advanced coursework.
